Inherited Treasures: Tribute To Women

Looking at the treasures in the Jaeger-LeCoultre Museum, watches specially designed for women since the 19th century are always full of new ideas and rare. Let’s focus on several iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre watches in chronological order.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre workshop has always paid great attention to the aesthetics and mechanical devices of women’s watches. In the 19th century, the Grand Workshop equipped pocket watches, brooches or watches with Jaeger-LeCoultre movements, and used sophisticated sculptors, enamel painters and gem inlays to complete the icing on the cake. This tradition can be traced to the first very small diameter movements, such as the LeCoultreCalibre7HP movement made by the brand in 1880.

Since 1903, French watchmaker Edmond Jacques and Jacques-David LeCoultre, the heirs to the Swiss watchmaking family, have joined forces to create a successful example of fashion and technology compatibility. They soon realized that the appearance of the watch would upend the shape of the watch. From low-key to gorgeous, from secret to open, Jaeger‑LeCoultre continues to enrich this tradition, creating revolving watches, ring watches and pocket watches, which are low-key and secret, or magnificent and unrestrained, with pure decorative art style The style also has eye-catching floral patterns. Each of these timepieces has always followed the principle of providing women with a movement that is truly designed and manufactured by Jaeger-LeCoultre and perfectly fits the shape of its case.
These works were made possible by the tireless creative spirit of our watchmakers. Eclectic and unconventional, such as placing a crown on the back of the movement, Jaeger-LeCoultre flying imagination, creating time and again achievements in the history of watches.

In 1925, the advent of the Duoplan watch further consolidated the fashion status of the Jaeger-LeCoultre workshop at that time, rewriting the history of small-scale watches that could not tolerate precision movements. The breakthrough of the Duoplan watch is that it cleverly combines two levels of high-end quality, allowing women to obtain precise time without losing the quality of elegance and fine watchmaking. Some high-precision watches designed by the Jaeger-LeCoultre workshop are equipped with this movement.
